4 December: CCCEP members attend world climate summit in Cancun|
CCCEP members joined more than 400 policy makers, scientists, farmers and members of civil society and the private sector at the Agriculture and Rural Development Day (ARDD) in Mexico. ARDD is a parallel event to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) negotiations.
30 November: CCCEP associate gives presentation at UK-China seminar on climate change and agriculture|
David Howlett, an associate of the Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy (CCCEP), gave a presentation in Beijing on 'Prospects for Agriculture in Climate Change Negotiations', organised by the UK-China Sustainable Agriculture Innovation Network| (SAIN). He discussed what happened during Copenhagen negotiations, what might happen in Cancun, and what we might expect at next year's negotiations in South Africa.
25 November: 'The Science of Risk' - Lloyd's Research Prize|
Elisabeth Simelton, member of CCCEP, is named runner up by Lloyd's, the world's leading specialist insurance market, in their prize award aimed at encouraging academic research into risk management. The prize was awarded for her research paper, 'Increased crop failure due to climate change: assessing adaptation options using models and socio-economic data for wheat in China', of which CCCEP's Andy Challinor was lead author. 10 November: 2011 Leontief Prize awarded to Nicholas Stern and Martin Weitzman|
The award, from the Global Development And Environment Institute (GDAE), recognises the critical role of Lord Nicholas Stern, CCCEP Chair, in analysing the economic dimensions of climate change. The ceremony and lectures will take place in March 2011 at Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA. More information on the GDAE|
