Professor Maria Máñez-Costa

Maria is part of the Climate Science Center| in Germany, where she acts as Head of the Department Economics and Policy. Her work focuses on political consulting and on the science policy interface of climate impact sciences. Main fields of work are social ecological resilience, participatory modelling approaches, climate induced migration, and the development of training modules for enhancing adaptation to climate change.
Maria is also Visiting Professor at the University of Barcelona, Spain.
Background
After studying geography in Gießen, Maria earned a PhD in Agricultural Economy at the University of Göttingen. She later taught in Leeds (UK), Bremen (Germany), Hamburg (Germany), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and other countries.
Maria now teaches at University of Barcelona (Spain) on participatory environmental management tools.
Maria has previously coordinated various projects of the European Union, working on the topic of 'Global change and ecological change'.
