Joana Setzer

Research student (associate) 

Joana's research topic is on the international environmental agenda of subnational governments. This thesis aims to examine the process through which subnational governments become transnational actors, undertaking an international agenda and addressing global environmental problems, particularly climate change. The thesis focuses on the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo and it assesses the drivers and the impact of the international activities undertaken by this state.

Background

Before starting her PhD, Joana did her MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a Masters in Environmental Policy at the University of Sao Paulo, and she worked for eight years as an environmental lawyer in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
