Murray Collins
Research student
Murray's PhD is on the direct payment mechanisms for tropical forest carbon, optimising outcomes for biodiversity. His work is funded by NERC-ESRC and hosted at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the Zoological Society of London, supervised by Susana Mourato (LSE) and Marcus Rowcliffe and Chris Carbone (ZSL).
Background
Murray has a BSc in Anthropology and Geography from UCL, and an MSc from Imperial College London in Conservation Science (Distinction).
Murray has most recently worked for the government of Gabon, doing field research on forest carbon stocks to help the country build its position for negotiation at UNFCCC discussions over a potential REDD+ mechanism.
He has also worked in Sumatra, Indonesia, as a field researcher, placing camera traps for National Geographic.
In addition, Murray made a film| in 2004 about the mythological primate of the Sumatran rainforest.
