Jami's project title is 'Integrating approaches to climate impacts assessments to enhance adaptation policy and practice in Uganda'.

This interdisciplinary research project, into assessing climate impacts and evaluating the implications for national and sub-national adaptation policies, will build on progress to date in both the natural and social sciences, using Uganda as a case study.

Background

Jami has a BA in Political Studies and an MSc in Sustainability (Environment and Development) from the University of Leeds.

She subsequently worked for an NGO in Uganda coordinating various community-based agricultural projects promoting the use of sustainable organic farming. In addition to this, Jami was part of a team which designed, developed and implemented a conservation education community outreach programme around Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda.

Jami left Uganda to begin her PhD in October 2010.

  • Environmental change (including climate change), adaptation and rural livelihoods;
  • Sociological systems and resilience;
  • Human-wildlife conflict and conservation;
  • Interdisciplinarity;
  • Science – society interactions.
