Equity in governance of the UN’s REDD+ programme

CCCEP’s Dr Monica di Gregorio will co-host a session at the Paris climate talks on Sunday exploring equity in governance of the UN’s REDD+ programme.

The open discussion will explore topics including risks and opportunities related to REDD+ equity outcomes of private sector efforts, such as zero deforestation pledges and voluntary carbon markets.

The session, part of the Global Landscapes Forum (http://www.landscapes.org/) takes place in the REDD+ Pavilion at the Palais des Congres, Paris at 1pm on Sunday (Dec 6).

Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) is an effort to create a financial value for the carbon stored in forests, offering incentives for developing countries to reduce emissions from forested lands and invest in low-carbon paths to sustainable development.

“REDD+” goes beyond deforestation and forest degradation, and includes the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks.
