At the recent Green Impact awards ceremony at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment were delighted to receive the Bronze Award.

The Grantham Research Institute signed up to the Green Impact scheme in November 2010. The project is a two-year environmental accreditation scheme for university departments across the country, with the aim of promoting sustainability in UK educational institutions. Departments get involved on an individual and voluntary basis.

This year, the Grantham Research Institute team consisted of Sophie Offord, Ginny Pavey and Ann Sawyer. In order to achieve an environmental certificate, the team had to action set criteria in time for an environmental audit in February 2011. The criteria was based around making office space and departmental policies more environmentally friendly.
