Ian Gough, Research Fellow at LSE and Associate of the Grantham Research Institute, spoke at a plenary session of a large international conference held by the UN Institute for Social Development at the Palais des Nations in Geneva in October.

The conference, ‘Green Economy and Sustainable Development: bringing back the social dimension’, attracted over 400 participants from across the world.

Ian delivered a paper on ‘Climate change, double injustice and social policy’, which is shortly to be published as an UNRISD Occasional Paper. While there, he also participated in a small roundtable discussion on ‘Climate Change as a Social Development Issue’. This paper was written in tandem with the presentation Ian gave at a recent Grantham seminar on ‘Compensating for Climate Mitigation: can social policies ameliorate the regressive effects?
