UK science allocation: more gloom

You might be forgiven for thinking that today’s announcement of how the science budget will be divided up is good news.
The chair of Research Councils UK, Alan Thorpe, says: “It is very encouraging that the allocations to the Research Councils have fared so well.”
In fact it confirms that the government is planning to slash capital expenditure for research,as I warned a few weeks ago.
