ESRC Festival of Social Science Public Debate
More than 200 people attended the annual CCCEP public lecture in Leeds on November 10 to debate speeding up international action on low-carbon cities.
The event – highly topical ahead of the Paris climate summit – formed part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science, which gives people chance to engage with leading social scientists and debate the role research plays in everyday life.
Featured on the panel were CCCEP’s Prof Andy Gouldson; Dr Katy Roelich, University Academic Fellow in Climate Change and Energy Policy at the University of Leeds; Nick Godfrey, Head of Policy and Urban Development for the New Climate Economy; and Cllr Alex Sobel, of Leeds City Council. The event was chaired by Frin Bale, CCCEP associate and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Leeds.
Participants’ presentations:
- Consumption based emissions and city responses to climate change – Dr Katy Roelich
- Better cities in a New Climate Economy – Nick Godfrey
