Ming Lone Liou

After devoting the past eight years to government public service and environmental protection work as Commissioner (2014-2022) for Taipei City Department of Environmental Protection in Taiwan, Ming Lone now serves as the Adjunct Assistant Professor of the Graduate Institute of Environmental Engineering at National Taiwan University. He is currently keen to incorporate the net zero pathway into climate policies from an Asian perspective.

Background

Ming Lone has solid expertise that combines local governance and environmental policymaking. Under his tenure as Commissioner at Taipei City Department of Environmental Protection, he has led a climate bill, entitled Taipei City Self-Government Ordinance for the Management of Net Zero Emissions, to deliver Taipei’s 2050 net-zero commitment. Ming Lone holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from National Taiwan University. As an experienced urban environmental governor, he has implemented innovative environmental policy reform for the purpose of tackling climate change. These efforts have helped Taipei City in achieving a more sustainable future.
