Ruth Jihyung Joo

Ruth Jihyung Joo is a PhD student at Sustainability Research Institute, studying international linkage of emission trading schemes, the market-based policy instrument to reduce greenhouse gas. In her research she tries to evaluate functioning of the global carbon markets including EU and South Korea, and analyzes prospects for linkages. She previously worked as a researcher at Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) Taskforce team of Ministry of Environment of Korea participating in the policy design research to prepare the national allocation plan and draft relevant guidelines to implement Korea’s ETS from 2015. She also worked as a project manager for ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Eco-Innovation Index research, which develops a tool to measure eco-innovation, and tries to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate eco-innovation policies and practices in 41 Asia-Europe countries.
