Tim Foxon
Tim is Professor of Sustainability Transitions at SPRU, University of Sussex. His research explores the technological and social factors relating to the innovation of new energy technologies, the co-evolution of technologies and institutions for a transition to a sustainable low-carbon economy, and relations and interdependencies between energy use and economic growth. He is co-leader of the CCCEP project on systemic approaches to low-carbon transitions.
Background
Before moving to Sussex, Tim was Reader in Sustainability and Innovation at the Sustainability Research Institute, School of Earth and Environment, University of Leeds, and led research on low-carbon skills in CCCEP Phase 1.
Tim was previously a research lecturer at Imperial College London, where he co-ordinated research on policy drivers and barriers for sustainable innovation under the ESRC Sustainable Technologies Programme, leading to a number of journal papers and a report for policy makers which was launched at the DTI in April 2005. He was also lead or co-author of three reports for the DTI on UK renewables innovation systems, as well as a report for the Carbon Trust on ‘Inducing innovation for a low-carbon future’, which has been widely cited.
